Cape Town-based furniture design bright spark, Liam Mooney, manages to cast a designer light onto everyday mediums – wood, metal, and cloth – when creating new furniture ranges for his now-established following (which includes the COORD team).
As is expected of a trendsetter, Liam literally set fire to our napkin project. Through use of a seemingly simple, bold technique, a fragile, multi-layered napkin composition was created.
What sort of event lights his fire? Our Q&A session below reveals more:
Q - Who do you hope never to sit next to at a dinner party?
A - An empty seat.
Q - What’s the one thing you still can’t say at a dinner party?
A - “Do you mind if cover my meal in mayonnaise?” (I love mayo).
Q - What words on an invitation guarantee that you’ll go to the event?
A - ‘Jumping castle’ gets me every time!
Q - Do you RSVP on time?
A - I’m embarrassed to say I never RSVP on time – I always get an irate phone call from the host asking whether I’ll be attending or not.
Q - Perfectly punctual or fashionably late?
A - A healthy space between the two.
